CEO hired to lead new Bethany Legacy Foundation

The former owners of King’s Daughters’ Health in Madison, Bethany Circle of King’s Daughters and Sons, have formed a new nonprofit charitable organization called Bethany Legacy Foundation (BLF). The Foundation was created following the recent change in ownership of King’s Daughters’ Health to Norton Healthcare.

To help manage and lead this new charitable organization, BLF has hired Dora Anim as President and Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Anim most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and previously was Senior Vice President of Programs and Services at The Health Collaborative in Cincinnati.

This new foundation represents an unprecedented opportunity for the community, explained Darleen Connolly, Chair of BLF. The Foundation now has the resources to make a real and lasting impact on health and wellness in Jefferson County. With an initiative of this scale and importance, the board determined an experienced professional and visionary leader was needed.

An exhaustive search was conducted, and Dora Anim stood out as an excellent fit for the mission and for Jefferson County. She is an exceptional relationship builder and collaborator with experience in healthcare, equity, and philanthropy.

Ms. Anim, who began her role on July 5, plans to spend time listening to and learning frothe community before recommending new initiatives. She emphasized the importance of hearing directly from residents who live and work in Jefferson County to ensure investments are focused on areas that deliver the greatest impact. The Foundation believes good health, healthcare, and wellness are essential to a flourishing society, with the goal of creating a healthier Jefferson County supported by high-quality, holistic care that can be equitably accessed by all.

The original hospital was founded in 1896 by a group of 12 women who recognized the need for such a facility. In 1899, they became the Bethany Circle of the International Order of King’s Daughters and Sons and owned the hospital for more than 120 years, until the recent change in ownership with Norton Healthcare.

Today, Bethany Legacy Foundation continues that heritage of promoting and supporting community health through sustainable and impactful acts of service. BLF is committed to creating the healthiest possible community—mind, body, and spirit—where current and future generations can thrive.

BLF will host a public meet-and-greet event to welcome Dora Anim on Wednesday, August 24, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Red Bicycle Hall, located at 125 E. Main Street, Madison, Indiana 47250.

Bethany Legacy Foundation is a private foundation governed by a volunteer board of directors. Its offices are currently located at 310 Courier Square in the former Madison Courier building on West Street.
