Mental Health Matters. For a Strong, Empowered, and Stable Jefferson County

Good mental health is not just the absence of mental disorders but encompasses a broader concept of overall psychological well-being. The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) defines mental health as “a state of well-being in which an individual can realize their abilities, cope with the normal stresses of life, work productively, and contribute to their community.”

Poor mental health and substance abuse are two threads that often intertwine, creating very complex challenges for those affected. The intersection of mental health disorders and substance abuse is a reality many individuals face which is why we believe there is a need for a comprehensive approach to treatment and recovery.

You will see that Bethany Legacy Foundation is seeking to impact mental health and substance abuse this year through our partnerships, our funding, and our activities.
